This camera was easy for me to understand and produces great quality pictures. I wanted something between a snap and shot and a complicated SLR and I got just what I wanted. I love it!
I bought one Canon SX 110 IS in 2008, took 2100 photos during my Christmas 2008 trip in Viet Nam. The pictures were excellent. I gave it to my brother and bought a new one SX 120IS for my recent trip in Xmas 2009 and took about 2400 photos (see some of this: [...]). They are very good too. The only thing I complaint is that I can not have a date printed in the photo (may be I didn’t know how to set it. Someone can help me? vietnamph@gmail.com). I gave it to my uncle and am trying to find out something better with that price but it seems that I will buy it again.

Love the way it operates especially zooming and getting clear pictures. Tried it out in the Grand Canyon. Everyone was amazed.
The only thing I wish it had is a viewfinder for when the sun is too bright and you cannot see anything in the LCD screen except your own reflection.
This was a Xmas present for my daughter. She wants to be a photographer. I was looking for something mid-stream for her to try. I’m not quite ready to invest in a top of the line camera. I am amazed at the features this camera has. I got it at the sale rate on Black Friday, which was just slightly more than $200, so the price was even better.
There are many features that we haven’t experimented with yet, but even on auto the clarity is awesome. I wasn’t sure when we took the first few pics, because they look a little grainy. But then when you go back to review them, they are crystal clear, even the action shots.
I had done my research pretty thoroughly, and then also talked with the folks at Best Buy and was informed that this is one of the best rated cameras. I have to agree. So if you’re looking for something better than your average digital camera, but aren’t ready to spend $1,000 for the top of the line, this is the best deal around.
This is my first digital camera, so can’t compare to others, but I chose it based on Consumer Reports recommendations and specific criteria that I had: 1)sized to fit in a purse/small bag, 2)took regular alkaline batteries, 3)maximum zoom, 4)price about $200. I have a good history with 2 SLR Canons, so that helped too. It is a great small size and shaped to hold easily with one hand. A big zoom; however, the camera is very difficult to stabilize on full zoom. Lots of setting options and great feature of a separate on/off with auto shut off, so you don’t waste batteries and don’t have to reset it when you turn it back on. The worst things are the delay in shooting, but I expected that as I read it is common with all digitals, and the flash setting which is not automatic on some settings. Bundle was a bonus for the price (equal to WalMart), with good memory card (camera came with only 128mb card) and reader, but the bag is too big to put in anything else, and the tripod is miniature.
