Of course the lens and optics in general are very important in a a camera! Apart from the optics the processing engine under the hood is equally important! The Casio Exilim EX-S5 Digital Camera is a case in point! The advanced Exilim Engine 4.0 works in tandem with the optics of this camera to give you breathtaking pictures in 10 mega pixel resolution!
The EXILIM EX-S5 is a camera with a compact body based on a new design concept - which makes high-quality photographic functionality simpler to use than ever before.
Excellent camera. Only feature lacking is a viewfinder which would help when taking pictures in bright sunlight. Very easy to use. Comes with two cables for connecting to USB port for transfer of pictures to computer. This my second Casio digital camera, and most of my family members have also gone for the Casio cameras because of the quality, price and durability.
I bought this camera because it was simple to use and affordable. I was upgrading from my 6 megapixel camera, thinking that a 10 megapixel would take clearer pictures, but I was wrong. The camera has great battery life, is really easy to use, looks great, slim and fits anywhere, but the picture quality is not very good. Some pictures will come out fine, but most others will come out blurry or grainy. I really wish this camera would take better pictures because I like everything else about it. If you care about how clear your pictures are, do not buy this camera.
All Casio Exlim software is the same apparently. It’s a nightmare! We all transfer images to computer and rename them to something we can comprehend so we can find hem again. But rename it on the memory card and you will never be able to view it via the camera – even tough it is there you are told “File cannot be viewed” – this tricks you into thinking the file is corrupt and you deleted perfect pics!
Rename the file in your computer directory and copy import it back to the Camera and you loose the filename you can understand and it’s renamed some absurd number = and round and round you go from absurdity to absurder. When you again copy pics back to your computer you will not have three pics with different file names only one of which can be viewed on the camera. This confusion and inconsistency by design is maddening. Product support is worse than bad.
A wonderful camera but far, far, far too complicated. Software replete with maddening design flaws make file management a nightmare. Want to drive yourself totally out of your mind? Then buy this camera. If you want to avoid frustration, inconsistency, absurdity, get something else. If you want to be driven nuts by convoluted software that delivers absurd results then this camera is four you.
This is my second Exilim camera. I gave my 7.5 mp to my daughter-in-law and treated myself to a 10 mp. Easy to use and I’ve gotten some great photos. I don’t like carrying a large purse these days, so the size was very appealing. I can carry it in a pocket or put it in my purse with my cell phone, billfold and sunglasses and still not need a very big bag. Not so good for action shots, but fine for portrait or landscape.
I have been buying CAsio Cameras for the last 24 months. I like how thin they are. Also the size of the screen is a plus. However, you have to have a steady hand not to get a blurry image. I do not care much for the flash, the pictures do not turn out right .
Anyway, I enjoy it and use it during the day. It fits in my purse so I always carry it around.
