I have bought Canon and Sony cameras/camcorders that were more expensive and not half as good. I also love the build in panorama feature. It may not be a shirt pocket camera, but it is still a small and light enough to carry it around my neck comfortably. I like the 12X optical zoom and the 10 mega pixels. It takes great video as well. The only thing I wish was that the self timer was a button I could push like it was on the FinePix s700, rather than something I have to find on the shooting menu.
I was looking for a replacement for my beloved S7000, and stumbled upon this. It is MUCH smaller than the S7000, but has twice the Mpixels & twice the optical zoom ! It took me a while to adjust to its size & slightly different arrangement or buttons, but I’m thrilled. The only things I miss from the S7000 are the adjustable viewfinder with cushioned hood (yes, I use a viewfinder, it is VERY bright here making view screens difficult to use well), and the AE-L (auto-exposure lock) button which I used a LOT. I’m still waiting for a true replacement for my S7000, but for the price this baby can’t be beat !!
Purchased this camera to replace a Fujifilm S5100 4 Mega pixel 10x zoom I fried by inserting the wrong dc adapter plug. The 12x Zoom starts from wide angle view so you are not much nearer to the object as you would expect to see. When you watch the normal view with your eyes as compared to the maximum zoom, its not much different. The zoom in my old 10x Fuji is better. The 10 mega pixel resolution is not 2.5 times better than the 4 mega pixel I had previously. Had a lot of trouble with an 8 Gb memory card with read/write errors and had to replace it with a 4 GB card, (Sandisk). Losing lost pictures in the process. The video is good however, and the manual settings allowed me to take some awesome pictures with my telescope, of the moon etc. The Macro is excellent also. Overall, 4 stars.
Good value and suits my purposes. Does not have a cable release. It takes one second delay to turn on and this is not reliable at times as it takes repeated activation before turning on. Taking a quick shot is problematic.
It has many more features than I have use for but it has the ones that I need and does that very well.
I bought this camera because I had a used Fuji Finepix S5200 that I wore out, but I loved it so much that I bought another Fuji. This does everything it did and more … more zoom, more storage, and better pictures, plus a super macro in addition to the regular macro. The only things don’t like is that the LCD screen is recessed slightly instead of flush, and I get my nose a little rubbed when I take a lot of pictures. Also, my other camera had pics for the settings – nighttime, portrait, etc. This ones doesn’t, so you do have to have a little more know how. However, this one has a panoramic view setting that is awesome! For the price, you just can’t beat it, especially if you are like me and are just learning.
