I don’t know what the other people who’ve commented on this camera’s experience is with cameras;but my son is a 20 yrs experienced pro photographer and rates this camera “Very High” for it’s quality “for the price”. He said he has Cannon SLR cameras that don’t take any better photos than this one. Samsung has really done their homework on this little digital camera! He says some people expect too much from a budget camera. He recommends this camera “Very Highly” for a budget camera. My son says,if anyone has trouble with shots with this camera (indoors or outdoors)they are not setting the camera’s settings properly or they have a defective camera.
This is the fourth SAMSUNG camera I buy for my sons. Never dissapointed. the pictures are fantastic, even on indoors, focus always, crispy colors, face detection 100%, flash light strong, easy to handle, easy way to setting your preferences on the menu, the only complain: the battery life is very short. always carry a pair of batteries extra. AMAZON.COM is my best friend, I love to buy online.
This camera is exceptional quality for the money. Very satisfied with the quality of the pictures.
I purchaesd this camera for my 10-year old as her first camera and it has been great. The ease of learning how to use, the photo quality, etc. is exceptional. A perfect camera for her (and for me!)
To be fair, I’ll start by saying every other Samsung product I’ve encountered has been fine… celphones, TVs, etc. That’s part of why I fell for buying this camera. The $90 price for 10+ megapixels seemed too good to pass up.
In the past I’ve had Olympus, Fuji and Canon digitals (not a Nikon or Kodak or Sony yet). The Fuji and Canon have been the best… the Olympus ones are okay for most situations, but terrible for focus in lower light settings.
This Samsung took okay pictures too, although they did seem a little fuzzy for 10 megapixels. Maybe the lens isn’t that great?
In any case, the main problem with this camera is that it is a WIMP. I first test-used it to take a few pictures around the house and it seemed okay, so I tried it out taking pictures at the Rose Parade. Even though the specifications say it can handle it, it just would not take many pictures in the 40 to 50 degree weather, failing instead and saying the batteries were bad. These were new alkaline batteries, and I even tested them afterwards and the meter said they were still fresh.
I decided to give the camera one more try at an event this weekend, and even though I was inside a building, I had come in from the outside (which was around 50 degrees) more than 20 minutes earlier, and it STILL gave that same error.
I tried to give it a somewhat more even review at the Samsung site, but they rejected it. That led me to have an even more skeptical view of the company, considering that it may have lack of support for its product if it fails to represent it fairly and honestly.
I cannot take it back to the store, since it is past its 90-day return policy there, so I am just giving it away to someone, and letting them know it’s probably only good in the house, where it can be pampered. I just don’t trust it any more.
